Student Summer Research Seminar Series

CHGD is pleased to offer a three-part series this summer regarding research with children and adolescents. This series is particularly suited for students who are being introduced to research with children and adolescents during their summer work or internship experience, but is open to anyone who is interested in learning more. All three seminars will be held at CHGD (300 N. Ingalls St., 10th floor Commons Room) and lunch will be provided.

Child Development 101
Tues, June 4th, 2019

Dr. Prachi Shah, M.D., Associate Professor of Pediatrics and a developmental-behavioral pediatrician, will give a one-hour crash course in child development, designed for students new to working with children in research. Lunch will be provided. Register here.

State of Child Health in the U.S.

Alison Miller, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Health Behavior and Health Education, will review the state of child health among U.S. children (ages 0-18 years), integrating developmental and social-contextual perspectives to understand influences on health outcomes. Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience: Theory & Methods

Ioulia Kovelman, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology, will provide an overview of the basic facts, theory, and methods of studying child brain development. The session will conclude with a visit to the fNIRS neuroimaging laboratory. Lunch will be provided. Register here.
