Dr. Stoddard’s research focuses on the etiology and prevention of violence/aggression and substance use in at-risk urban youth, and the application of behavioral, family, and ecological approaches to prevent violence and substance use. She is interested in the relationship between place-based factors, future orientation, and health/behavior, and currently examines future orientation as a mechanism for preventing substance use and school disengagement for youth living in high-risk communities.
